In 2013 Amano introduced a school house system which has been a great success. Every child who enters the school is allocated to one of these three houses for their school life:
…each child has greater opportunities to exercise their talents and grow in confidence.
What's important in Musenga? The three main qualities we believe in are: Integrity, Courage, Perseverance and these are included in our motto which is in Latin.
Motto: ‘The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.’ Psalms 18:2-
What's important in Luano? Encouragement, support and inspiration.
Motto: R.E.A.C.H. for the stars
What's important in Kasompe? The qualities we would like to have in Kasompe are; respect, encouragement, to aspire, community and humility. Hence our motto.
The house names come from local areas around the school. With children coming from all over the country and beyond it is important that students have an awareness of the local setting of the school and are not isolated from real community. Most of the school workforce comes from these areas.
The house system offers opportunities for every individual to contribute to school life, experience new things and be challenged in different ways that ordinary school time does not allow. It helps students to have not just an Amano identity but also a smaller team identity where each child has greater opportunities to exercise their talents and grow in confidence.
Everyone who contributes to the wider school life receives points for their service to the school. This can be in social settings like the Family Worship meetings, academic and artistic achievements which receive merits, and school sport representation which is awarded with points. Such a system automatically develops competition and rivalry which offer great opportunities to develop the student's character and spiritual growth.
The house with the most points is awarded the House Winner’s Trophy at the end of the school year.
